Definitions

File Format. A file format is essentially the data presentation method. Thus, the same image, for instance, may be used for different purposes and may, therefore, be represented as different file types: GIF and JPG files are used to liven up web pages, TIFF is used for printing, etc. The same is true for documents.

Conversion. Conversion is the process of translating a file in one format into a file in a different format.

Virtual Printer. A special driver that is seen and used by the operating system as a printer driver. It enables users to utilize standard printing functions for different purposes, such as file conversion.

Profile. A group of settings for a certain task saved as an XML file.
